| Since the 70’s there was always talk of Compensation Flats being an industrial/commercial node for the KwaZulu- Natal North Coast. It made perfect sense then given that the area was flat and there was a railway station that would serve the industries [in days when the rail system was heavily relied upon] and that an airport was planned at “La Mercy” as it was known as then.
Today, with the growth of development in the Ballito area and the completion of the King Shaka International Airport and Dube Trade Port, Compensation Flats is ready to be developed to service the needs of the larger industrial and commercial sector operators.
